Michael Shanks says SG-1 Movies are KAPUT! Nein Nein Nein!

In a recent interview with Sci Fi Wire whilst promoting his appearance on Smallville as Hawkman, Dr Daniel Jackson (a.k.a. the actor Michael Shanks) let slip that he wasn't too confident in the future of the Stargate DVD movies, even though Ark of Truth and Continuum were big successes.

Here's what he had to say:

However, he didn't say that SG-1 movies had officially ascended.

"Never say never. It's always a possibility. But I think everybody's moving on to a certain point, and with the new show doing well, everybody's focusing their attention on that. The SG-1 idea is somewhat on the back burner, which is a little bit unfortunate, because I think one more story would have been a great way to bring Rick (Richard Dean Anderson) back in and really go there. But you know, business is business."

Stargate Universe, which is set to return with the second half of season one on April 2 on Syfy and a week later on SCI FI Channel Australia, has already gotten a second-season renewal. Dr. Good news though for fans of Dr Daniel Jackson - he's in two upcoming SG-U episodes.

Shanks seems to be in hot demand as an actor, also appearing in the upcoming Supernatural episode '99 Reasons'. Most bizarrely, "I'm reading for Danno in Hawaii Five-O," he said with a laugh. "I don't know what to say about that. I haven't read the script yet, so I'm going, 'Really?' I'll have to wait and see.'"
